About KD
The
I asked my tenth grade art teacher, "Can I please draw something else? Something real?" I wanted to produce artwork of things from nature, so he agreed to give me six weeks in the back room by myself to see what I could do. The result: "Hands," my first real drawing. He entered it into The Congressional Arts Caucus competition for my district, and it won Best of Show. The drawing hung in the U.S. Capitol Building from 1992 to 1993 and has won additional awards in other competitions as well. My teacher then challenged me to try colored pencil, so I drew "Caribou," my first color drawing.
I went on to earn a Master of Architecture degree in college and have combined my love of drawing with design to produce architectural renderings, as well as design work in that field. The Lord has also blessed me with an opportunity to work on illustrations for a book project, with (Lord willing) more to come in the future!
Self-Portrait:
Open hands to receive from the Lord, and open hands to give away.
My prayer is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and to live a Cross-shaped life.
The Top 5 Reasons Why I Draw:
#5, 4, 3, and 2: My four beautiful children!
We are a single-parent homeschooling family. The single-parent part was not our choice, yet we do all we can to continue on living the life Jesus died to give us and one that is worthy of the calling we have received as God's children (Ephesians 4:1-3). Your purchase is not just a transaction, it's provision and encouragement! You help provide for our family so these precious kiddos can be raised in the Word and serve Him who is the Word!
#1: My Lord and Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ
I know the talent I have is a gift from the Lord and not anything I've earned. I've prayed ever since those days in the back room of art class, God, how may I use what You've given me to serve You for your purposes? Capturing the likeness of a person and who God made them to be, creating a one-of-a-kind gift, encouraging someone with Scripture, raising money to pass along to ministry, illustrations to help children learn about God, designing to support my children and make beautiful spaces for people to experience... and whatever else He brings along! In all these, I hope to hear Him say one day, Well done, good and faithful servant.
